WEIG has Product Carbon Footprints for plasterboard liner independently certified

Mayen, July 23 2026 –

The WEIG GROUP has calculated the Product Carbon Footprints for plasterboard liner production at its Mayen site in Germany and at the production sites of Yaguarete Papeles and Kartotec S.A. in Paraguay. The calculations were carried out in accordance with ISO 14067 and independently certified for the first time.

Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) are becoming increasingly important throughout the entire value chain. Companies require reliable CO₂ data, among other things, for sustainability reporting, tenders and customer requirements. At the same time, different calculation methods, databases and emission factors can make it more difficult to compare individual PCF values.

The independent verification and certification in accordance with ISO 14067 confirms that the calculations carried out by WEIG are methodologically sound, compliant with the standard and take the relevant scope categories into account.

„The quality of a Product Carbon Footprint depends decisively on the quality of the underlying data. That is why careful data collection and methodological alignment were of central importance to us.“

Dr. Marina Maier, Sustainability Manager at the WEIG GROUP

Another milestone is the first-time calculation of the Product Carbon Footprints for Yaguarete Papeles and Kartotec S.A. in Paraguay. In doing so, WEIG is extending product-related CO₂ transparency to its international sites and creating a methodologically aligned data basis within the Group.

This provides our customers with transparent and verified CO₂ data that they can use in their own reporting, assessment and decision-making processes.

„Reliable CO₂ data creates transparency and provides our customers with a sound basis for their decisions.“

WEIG regards the calculation and independent certification of its PCF data as part of a continuous improvement process. The aim is to continuously improve the data basis and provide customers with transparent and traceable information. In this way, WEIG is also creating a robust foundation for long-term cooperation throughout the supply chain.
